I put my flight bag away again. I checked my old license for expire dates of all things like my Instrument Rating, Multi Engine Rating, Commercial License, Radio Telephony License, Medical. I know it’s all expired… that’s going to be a lot of work to get back.

Reading a lot of books. The new me?

Reading a lot of books at the moment, more than in my lifetime (don’t ask — I am late):

I really love the "The Expanse" books, reading book 1, 2 and starting number 3 on "Apple Books". Now I am buying physical books instead as I don’t really want to hold a device, nor do I want to think about DRM. Book 4 has been ordered as I’m close to finishing number 3.

The Magus is my wife’s favourite book of all time. I just started it. It’s nice I could start a conversation about it. So far I am really interested and like it. This is also my first book where it’s written in first person… I never experienced that.

Living the good life came about researching self-sufficient lifestyle and being a little bit more "outdoor" and living more simple in general. There are other books that I bought along that, for example how to survive outside and what to eat when finding oneself in strange situations. I’ll blog about those some other day though.

On order I have Book 4 of The Expanse series. Also expecting Wool, by Hugh Howey — another book I have digital.

When I was a kiddo, I didn’t read a lot of books at all, which is a shame in itself. However since reading Road Dahl books to my daughter like Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and many others, I am really interested. Roald Dahl was always taught in school when I went but I couldn’t care more. Now I care.

I jump between books and that’s how I work the best. Keeps my interest peaked.

The last few weeks we were out I always took a book with me and was reading whilst waiting… wow, what an amazing feeling t o sip coffee and read a good book. Bliss. Magical.

It certainly takes you to new places in your mind, a place where no technology will ever manage to come close to.

My last ever flight, in my logbook, was on the 29th of February, 2012. Flying from East Midlands airport to Jersey (Channel Islands — where I lived). 2 hrs block to block.

After roughly 9 years closed…

Dusted, ready to open…

Memories rushing out, hard to contain.

My mind drifted into a very dangerous place over the weekend. Suddenly, looking up, taking the sound and sight of a light aeroplane doing circuits overhead (touch & go’s), I thought - "shit, I need to do this again". Flashbacks ensued.

If they did a remake of The Walking Dead, and replaced empty hands with hands containing "smartphones" (Pocket Computers) and instead of looking at you, looking at the PC — that would be spot on on what I see day in and out in 2021.

Can we drop the word "smart" from tech stuff now please? It’s really annoying.

Super happy with the dark mode tweaks that rolled out to today. Small stuff, but important ✌️ And as we say: "more to come".

Nice to see a few small updates to Basecamp rolling out. Also interesting to see they’re using Squarespace to host their updates site (which is a new addition).

Had a bit of a poopy day, so I worked on a tiny tweak to some stuff we’re doing. Already feeling better and calmer. ❤️

Oh… don’t mind me…

Went to bed late last night, on a school night… certainly feeling it now, coming close to noon. Already drank a jar of coffee 😋. Maybe a nap is in order.

Asking for anyone using Gluon, that app for… what is the one feature you would like to see improved in the next release (that reads… existing feature and not anything I haven’t shipped). Let me know.

Discord account deleted 🥳 One step at a time...

I’d love to drive to my Mum’s place right now (only a 2 day hike and a ferry), go to the attic, and grab my GameBoy and put in those lush Pokemon games. Loved playing those under the covers with no backlight, and pretending to sleep (they knew I was awake).

An iPod with click wheel would be awesome right now. Or bring back the Shuffle. Would love that. Or why not integrate Apple Music or some sort of storage straight into the AirPods. Thanks, bye. Take my money.

One thing I loved during my Friday morning forest walk was the dew drops dripping from the trees. It sounded like it was raining. It was beautiful.

Waking up at 05:20 in the morning, on a school day, now. It totally changes the way I go about my day already. It’s nice. Nice to see most of the sunrise.

Haven’t written my blog post how I’m justifying this… however going to be working 3 days a week from now on, with 2 days designed to get back time for myself and do my own stuff (no tech related stuff). Last 10 years were stupid. Time to change that.

Friday early morning hike 🥾
