Gluon 2020.3 release notes

Last night, I released version 2020.3 of Gluon for both iOS and Android.

It's been in the works for about one month, with all you great testers. Thank you so very much for you continued feedback, bug reports and feature requests.

Whilst Gluon is "opinionated" I believe it's being shaped by the community at large. I hope this trend continues and urge everyone, that would like to, write in and give me your suggestions on what you want to see next.

Release notes

Here are the release notes for this release. There are many little tweaks here and there and I doubt I have them all here.

  • Posting now allows you to add categories to your posts, using the toolbar.
  • Replying now allows you to view the item you’re replying to, just tap on the “replying to” text.
  • In replies, you can now @-mention someone and it will auto-suggest anyone in your following list.
  • Your profile now displays your Pins that you have earned on Micro.blog.
  • Along with the pins the profile screens have been updated for easier navigation with clearer buttons and actions.
  • The timeline now attempts to stay nicely on your last post, allowing new posts to show without loosing your spot. Also includes a “new” indicator.
  • Feed sync has greatly been improved and should work faster, and also update past posts much better.
  • Nitpicky settings, found in the “More” screen, for your pleasure - Show character count when typing, display full names and so much more like the image proxy for when you need to save a bit data.
  • An overhaul of the “More” screen.
  • The reply and post screens have been overhauled to work much better.
  • Fixes issues with account switching.
  • Many under-the-hood UI tweaks, for example tweaked swipe actions.
  • And so much more

2020.4

Now that we have .3 out the door, I'm slowly going to start work on the .4 for this year. I'm not 100% sure where it will go, however I have a list that I want to try and tackle.

Again, this will be a one month cycle (give or take) and will be available via the TestFlight channel in the coming week or so. However, just note that I will be making a few changes to TestFlight availability and I'll be announcing more on that this week. Hint: there will be a different list for "nightly" builds - but will be invite only.

Anyway, thank you so very much to everyone using Gluon! ❤️✌️
