I've been doing a lot of coding for the upcoming Micro.blog iOS TestFlight version the past few weeks. My hands hurt now... maybe time for a small break today. Some exercise and Yoga to stretch them out.

Micro.blog
Post short thoughts or long essays, share photos, all on your own blog. Micro.blog makes it easy, and provides a friendly community where you can share and engage with others.
Micro.blog is the brain child of Manton Reece. He contacted me in 2021 to help him work on it and bring my skills to it. Canβt wait to see what this relationship brings in the long term. I am forever grateful for the opportunity and hope to blog more about it here (as one of my own).

Small milestone yesterday. The first Micro.blog push notification came through from the new iOS version we're working on. π₯³

I'm really happy with the way the new Micro.blog iOS app has shaped up this week. To top it, also fixed many new bugs, which magically come across to Android also. This is one reason why I love a cross-platform framework.
Can't wait to release the beta.
Testing something, so send me your repliessssssssssss βοΈ👨β💻
Getting closer to the new "early" beta for the Micro.blog app for iOS. Just need to test push notifications tomorrow and some other bits and bobs that we'll find.
Once we open source the new React Native app for Micro.blog I think there's going to be a lot of developers that will want to punch me in the face.
For any folks interested, this is the "default" dark mode that will ship with the Micro.blog app. We're still testing Android, and the new iOS version will come when it comes.
Quick preview of dark mode in the official Micro.blog app (Android only for now) we're working on. Certainly not finished just yet.
We've deployed tweaks to the profile pop-ups on Micro.blog. I'm pretty happy with them. It's been a little longer detour than I expected.
Main features:
- Better handling when hovering over trigger points - username & avatar. Now it'll wait a few milliseconds before opening. So it'll no longer disturb your flow. It has to be a deliberate intention to open it. If you keep in the same spot, it'll show. If you move on, it won't show.
- Moving out of a trigger point closes the pop-up if you haven't hovered into it, automatically. Otherwise it's the same logic as before.
- Works on conversations. Was half missing (my bad!) 🙄
We might tweak the time it takes for the pop-up to appear, but we'll keep it like this, as is, for a while.
It's always helpful to deploy something like this and get feedback... and live with it for a bit - then adjust here and there to make it right.
Thank you all for the good feedback and also criticism βοΈβ€οΈ
If you'd like to see anything else, let me know.
We're going to be tweaking those profile pop ups on Micro.blog. Now that we've used it for a few days, and lived with it and had some good (and bad) feedback. If you want to weigh in, let me know.
Guess I should just sherlock Gluon and put it into the official Micro.blog app 🤣
At least I get to be involved in the sherlocking 😋
One weird thing since developing the official app for Micro.blog (on Android) is that Gluon usage on Android has dropped somewhat. And that's fine. It's nice to see.
Am working on an itch I wanted to scratch π
